Taliban discuss TAPI security issues with Turkmenistan

At online negotiations between representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and chief executive officer of TAPI Pipeline Company Ltd, Muhammetmyrat Amanov, the parties showed interest in ensuring the security of the pipeline, Bakhtar Agency of Afghanistan.

A committee to start practical work on TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline) was formed in the government of Afghanistan, the TOLO news portal reported on August 20. The new structure was headed by First Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.

A delegation from Afghanistan will soon leave for Turkmenistan to discuss gas prices and the implementation of the gas pipeline project, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said.

“We intend to visit Turkmenistan and discuss gas prices, the implementation of projects in Herat, as well as industrial parks,” Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Shafay Azam.

The current Afghan authorities presented the TAPI security plan to the Turkmen side in February 2022. However, the details of the pipeline protection plan were not given.
