More drug labs in Afghanistan in year

The volume of production and distribution of drugs in Afghanistan increased in 2022, the Deputy Commander of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Kishvarsho Khushvaht said.

More synthetic drugs are being produced on the territory of Afghanistan, Sputnik reports.

“There is an increase in the production of synthetic drugs, in particular, methamphetamine. Along with this, a significant increase in drug laboratories processing it has been recorded,” Khushvakht said.

In addition, according to him, an increase in the production and distribution of raw opium and heroin is recorded.
In total, almost 650 kg of drugs were seized at the Tajik-Afghan border in 2022.

Earlier, Prosecutor General of Tajikistan Yusuf Rahmon, speaking at an international anti-terrorist conference in Dushanbe, said that by the end of 2021, more than 4 tons of drugs were seized in the country.

The borders of the Central Asian states need global protection because of another Afghan threat – terrorists, the Prosecutor General of Tajikistan said.
