Mirziyoyev discusses issues of expanding partnership between Uzbekistan and EU

Issues of expanding Uzbek-European relations, strengthening regional cooperation and promoting a peaceful settlement in Afghanistan were considered during a meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

“Issues of further expansion of Uzbek-European multifaceted relations and strengthening of regional cooperation were considered,” the report said.

Particular attention was paid to the development of a constructive political dialogue, promotion of programs and projects of mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, financial and technical fields, as well as in the field of ecology, education and tourism.

An exchange of views took place on the current international agenda, including the situation in Afghanistan.

“Issues of assistance to the speedy peaceful settlement and socio-economic reconstruction in Afghanistan were considered,” the presidential press service said in a statement.

Uzbekistan has a common border with Afghanistan and offers various options for solving the problem in this country.
