Kyrgyzstan signs agreement with Kazakhstan on coal supply to Bishkek TPP

An agreement was signed with KarTransUgol LLP for the supply of coal in the amount of 400,000 tons to the Bishkek thermal power plant (TPP), the press service of Electric Stations OJSC told, Kabar reports.

The first batch will arrive in October, the entire delivery schedule is calculated until the spring of 2023, the company informs.

Earlier, at a press conference Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyzstan, Taalaibek Ibraev, said that Kyrgyzstan would purchase 400,000 tons of coal directly, without a tender.

He said that taking into account the fact that the power boilers at the old part of the thermal power plant (TPP) in Bishkek are designed for Kazakh coal of grade “D”, the issue of additional purchase and supply of imported coal in the amount of up to 400 thousand tons directly from the supplier is being worked out.
