Kyrgyzstan refuses to participate in CSTO exercises in Tajikistan

Kyrgyzstan will not take part in the joint CSTO exercises “Frontier-2022” in Tajikistan, the Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan said.

The ministry also said that the Kyrgyz military forces did not initially plan to participate in this excercizes.

A joint exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization “Frontier-2022” started in Tajikistan yesterday.

In the period from 10 to 21 October 2022, a joint exercise “Frontier-2022” is being held on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian region, the CSTO secretariat reported.

The active phase of the exercise will take place at the Harbmaydon training ground from 17 to 21 October.

The military contingents of the member states of the Central Asian region of the CSTO, operational groups of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat take part in the exercises.

It is planned that the total number of participants in the exercises in Tajikistan will be about 1,000 people and over 300 units of military and special equipment, including aircraft, helicopters and UAVs.

Earlier, Kyrgyzstan canceled the CSTO exercises “Indestructible Brotherhood-2022”, which were to be held from October 10 to 14 at the Edelweiss training center.

The military contingents of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan were to take part in the exercises “Indestructible Brotherhood”.
