Iran and Turkmenistan discuss development of trade relations

The official delegation of Iran arrived in Turkmenistan to discuss the development of trade relations between the countries, IRNA reported.

The Iranian delegation is headed by Governor of North Khorasan province Mohammad Reza Husseinnejad.

One of the key points of the talks is the development of border cooperation in order to increase trade, which is relevant in the context of the existence of a long border between the countries, IRNA said.

The participants of bilateral meetings emphasized the existence of a huge potential for the implementation of joint trade and economic projects with the involvement of the private sector. The medical industry, sericulture, agriculture, organization of specialized exhibitions, etc. were named among the possible areas for strengthening cooperation.

The parties also discussed the creation of a joint committee that will monitor the implementation of memorandums signed earlier between neighboring states during the official visit of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Iran in June this year.
