EU remains committed to strengthening relations with Turkmenistan

The European Union to strengthen relations with the Central Asian country of neutral status Turkmenistan.

EU President Charles Michel stated the Union’s commitment to strengthening relations with Turkmenistan and continuing cooperation through political dialogue, as well as bilateral and multilateral projects, according to a congratulatory message from the EU President to Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, Orient reports.

The congratulations were published by the state-owned newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan.

Charles Michel expressed his hope that the forthcoming joint conference on green energy and reduction of methane emissions, scheduled for November in Ashgabat, as well as the readiness to cooperate in the EU-Central Asia format, will contribute to a fruitful exchange of views and increase the economic and social opportunities of all citizens of Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan is the only country in Central Asia with a neutral status. In 2022, the transfer of supreme power in the country from father to son was successfully implemented in Turkmenistan as a result of the elections.
