The situation in Afghanistan will worsen. President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon said this at the 4th Consultative Meeting in Cholpon-Ata.

According to him, contrary to their promises, the Taliban leadership is preventing the creation of an inclusive government, reports 24.kg.

“Some leaders of the movement are on the list of terrorists and terrorist organizations of the UN Security Council. The Taliban leadership is pursuing an aggressive policy of rigid religious conservatism. They have already announced the abolition of secular legislation and the application of Sharia courts in all areas of civil society,” said Emomali Rahmon.

Meanwhile, as noted, the Presidents of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan Emomali Rahmon and Serdar Berdimuhamedov did not sign the final agreement of the 4th Consultative meeting of the heads of Central Asian countries.

The clarification says that Dushanbe and Ashgabat will join the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation after the completion of all domestic procedures.

It was previously stated that the document should initiate the rapprochement of the states of the region outside the framework of the EAEU and without the participation of any additional actors.

The agreed countries will be obliged to resolve disputes between themselves within the framework of the agreement and exclusively through dialogue, including through the creation of appropriate mechanisms for interaction, if necessary.

The draft treaty also refers to the prohibition of the states of the region to use military force against each other.

The agreement is concluded for an indefinite period, any country can withdraw from it by written notification. Kazakhstan is the depositary of the document.

As a result of the meeting in Cholpon-Ata, the following were signed:

– decision of the heads of founding states of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea to extend the powers of the President of the Fund

– joint statement of the Consultative Meeting of the Leaders of the Central Asian Countries

– the concept of interaction between the Central Asian states within the framework of multilateral formats

– regional program “Green Agenda for Central Asia”

– roadmap for the development of regional cooperation for 2022-2024

In addition, the heads of the three states – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev – signed the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st century.

The next, 5th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia will be held in Tajikistan.
