Mittal’s company invests $1 billion in Kazakhstan

Executive Chairman of the Board of ArcelorMittal, Lakshmi Mittal, assured President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, that ArcelorMittal would invest $1 billion in Kazakhstan in the near future, most of which would be directed to modernizing production.

Kazinform reported that during the meeting, topical issues of ArcelorMittal Temirtau’s activities in Kazakhstan, as well as plans for the coming period, were discussed.

The key topic of the talks was issues related to ensuring safety conditions at work, fair wages for local citizens, the fulfillment of social obligations and the modernization of the material and technical base.

President Tokayev focused on the issue of meeting the needs of the domestic market through the supply of ArcelorMittal Temirtau products.

In addition, the special attention was paid to the company’s measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Lakshmi Mittal is one of the largest investors in Kazakhstan, who has owned most of the country’s steel industry since independence.
