Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan may resume bus and railway transportation

Official representatives of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan discussed issues of further cooperation in various sectors, the press service of the Investment and Foreign Trade Ministry of Uzbekistan said.

In particular, the sides discussed ways of interaction in the development of industrial cooperation, prospects for establishing the production of agricultural machinery, cars, building materials and calcium carbide.

They discussed the creation of the Center for Industrial Cooperation in the border area and the textile complex, as well as the construction of the Kogart small hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 6.7 MW.

The sides considered the possibility of resuming passenger bus and rail traffic, increasing the number of flights between the two countries and building the Irkeshtam-Daroot-Korgon-Uch-Korgon highway.

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have a long line of common borders, and in the Ferghana Valley, three regions of one country  border with the three regions of another country. The total population of these regions is more than 10 million people.
