Trade between Iran and Central Asia increased

Iran’s trade turnover with Central Asian countries increased by 40%, IRNA reported.

Transit of goods to Iran from Central Asia and vice versa is carried out through the Iran’s province of Khorasan-Razavi. The province borders on the Akhal region of Turkmenistan. The growth in trade became possible due to the simplified procedure for the transit of goods through Turkmenistan, the report said.

The trade turnover between Iran and Turkmenistan in January-June 2022 amounted to $233 million, while for the whole of 2021 this figure was $227 million. This indicates a significant increase in trade between the countries, Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gholam Abbas Arbab Khales said.

The head of the diplomatic mission expressed hope that by the end of 2022 the volume of trade between Turkmenistan and Iran would double due to active economic diplomacy.
