Turkmen leader proposes to create Business Council “Turkmenistan-SCO”

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to create a Business Council “Turkmenistan-SCO” at a meeting with SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming in Samarkand, the Turkmen TDH reported.

The proposed structure will organize annual business meetings, presentations of economic projects and exhibitions, which confirms the readiness of Turkmenistan for constructive joint work with the SCO, the Turkmen leader said at the meeting.

He also proposed to create a working group on energy issues between Turkmenistan and the interested SCO countries and an interim Coordinating Council for coordinated and efficient work in the field of transport.

The head of Turkmenistan is in the Uzbek city of Samarkand to participate in the SCO Summit as an honored guest. On the first day of his visit, he also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The SCO Summit was held on September 15-16, 2022 in the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan. At the Summit, Iran signed the Membership Agreement. Thus, Iran became the ninth member of the SCO.
