Protection of human rights in Uzbekistan at high level – OSCE

Uzbek Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbayeva discussed with the OSCE Delegation led by Special Representative Valiant Ritchie, to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings,  the expansion of cooperation in mutually beneficial areas and dialogue established between Uzbekistan and the OSCE, Nova24.uz reported.

At the talks, Narbayeva noted that systemic reforms are being carried out in Uzbekistan to combat human trafficking, concrete results have already been achieved in the activities of the National Commission, a lot of work has been done with international partner organizations and civil society institutions to eliminate existing problems in this area.

The OSCE delegation got acquainted with the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan to improve the human rights system, combat child labor and forced labor, put into practice the principles of decent work, and combat human trafficking.

Valiant Ritchie noted that the human rights protection system in Uzbekistan is at a high level. He also stressed that the reforms carried out in the country under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev are highly appreciated by the international community. He highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan and fully supported the initiative of Uzbekistan on the need to strengthen practical interaction between the parliament, government and civil society institutions.

He also noted that he would present Uzbekistan’s practical proposal to representatives of relevant state and non-state organizations, parliaments and governments of states within the OSCE responsible for combating human trafficking, and the OSCE would provide all necessary support to establish this cooperation.
