Mirziyoyev held talks with Presidents Japarov and Rakhmon

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the leaders of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The heads of state discussed issues related to the recent tragic events on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, Uzreport.

The President of Uzbekistan expressed deep condolences in connection with the loss of life, expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, and also sincerely welcomed the achievement of bilateral agreements to de-escalate the situation.

Along with this, the leaders discussed the fruitful results of the events held within the program of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

During a conversation with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the importance of the speedy implementation of decisions was emphasized, in terms of accelerating the preparation and promotion of cooperation projects in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture and other sectors.

In a conversation with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, the importance of the practical implementation of agreements on priority cooperation projects, including the promotion of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project, was especially noted.

The parties also reviewed the course of preparations for the upcoming high-level meetings, including within the framework of regional structures.

The talks took place after a ceasefire was reached between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the border between Batken and Sogli regions. There, from September 14 to 17, there were clashes between the parties, as a result of which the Kyrgyz side lost 59 people, and the Tajik side 41 people were killed.
A ceasefire was achieved after negotiations between Zhaparov and Rahmon on September 17. A joint commission was created, which developed an agreement on a ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops to places of permanent deployment.
