Main amount of money from migrants to Uzbekistan comes from Russia

In six months of 2022, $5.3 billion were transferred from Russia to Uzbekistan, Podrobno.ru reported.

This accounts for more than 80% of all money transfers to Uzbekistan in the first half of 2022 of the total volume of transfers to the country, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan announced.

In total, $6.5 billion were sent to Uzbekistan during this period, of which $5.3 billion came from Russia. Compared to the first half of last year, this figure more than doubled from $2.2 billion. At the same time, only $210 million was sent to Russia from Uzbekistan (in the first half of 2021 – $180 million).

Kazakhstan took second place by a wide margin. From there, in six months of 2022, $327 million was transferred. On the third place is the United States, from where $237 million was sent.

The number of labor migrants from Uzbekistan in Russia will exceed 4 million people. Uzbek migrants go to work both in neighboring countries and in far-abroad countries, such as European countries and the United States.
