Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan sign protocol on settlement of armed conflict on border

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzsan Kamchybek Tashiev, as part of the work to resolve the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, late in the evening of September 19 this year, held another meeting with Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Saimumin Yatimov, Kabar reports.

The press service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported that as a result of the negotiations and in pursuance of the previously reached agreements on a ceasefire and de-escalation of the situation, a protocol was signed between the parties to resolve the armed conflict in the border areas of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan, providing for a complete cessation of hostilities, withdrawal of troops and military equipment to their places of permanent deployment, joint inspection of border outposts and commandant’s offices, conducting a thorough investigation of armed clashes happened on September 14 and 16 this year.

From the Kyrgyz side, the protocol was signed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, Lieutenant General Kamchybek Tashiev and from the Tajik side by Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Saimumin Yatimov.

The joint work of the parties on the speedy restoration of peace and stability in the border area continues.
