Kazakhstan may not have enough gas for its needs

Kazakhstan may not have enough current volumes of producing gas for its own needs.

A new aspect of this large and sensitive topic appears from the information provided by the LS portal with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, the gas shortage in the country may come in a year. A shortage of fuel to supply the domestic market is expected from 2024. The reason will be the commissioning of promising projects in the petrochemical industry, the electric power industry and industrial enterprises and, as a result, an increase in consumption.

“In this regard, if it is necessary to attract additional gas resources, the issue of gas imports from neighboring countries, including Russia and Turkmenistan, will be worked out,” the ministry explained.

The ministry added that at the current level of consumption, the available commercial gas resources are able to cover the needs of the population until 2030.
