Kazakhstan clarifies exact number of voters in upcoming elections

Almost 12 million citizens are included in the voter lists in Kazakhstan for early presidential elections, Nurlan Abdirov, chairman of the Central Election Commission of the country said.

Based on data from all regions of the country on the number of registered voters, the CEC of Kazakhstan announced the exact number of electors for the upcoming November 20 presidential elections in Kazakhstan.

“Thus, 11 million 950 thousand 485 citizens are included in the voter lists. According to this number of voters, ballot papers will be produced. Also, the number of voters is taken into account when producing absentee ballots for the right to vote,” Nurlan Abdirov said at a CEC meeting.

The number of ballots and absentee ballots are produced with a reserve of 1% of the total number of voters. Thus, the number of ballots, including the reserve, is 12 million 69 thousand 990 pieces, said CEC Secretary Mukhtar Yerman.

The main candidate for the upcoming elections in Kazakhstan is the current head of state, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In addition to him, other contenders will take part in the elections, the chances of which are minimal, according to experts on elections in Kazakhstan.
