Chinese company builds important highway in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is implementing a key project for the country’s transport infrastructure – the reconstruction of the A380 international highway. It starts in the city of Guzar in the Kashkadarya region and goes to the westernmost point of Uzbekistan, ending in the Kazakh city of Beyneu. The length of this most important artery is 1204 kilometers.

One of the participants in the project is the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation, which has been building high-quality roads in Central Asia for a long time, Podrobno.uz reported.

China Road and Bridge Corporation has been involved in the construction of the road since 2020, when the Chinese company took part in a tender for the reconstruction of the section of the A380 highway from the city of Kungrad to the village of Daut-Ata. This route is extremely important for the region in terms of transport connectivity. That is why it is included in the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation – an initiative aimed at developing the region by improving transport links between countries.

Representative of China Road and Bridge Corporation Zhang Yi said that the company won the tender, according to which it undertook the obligation to reconstruct 120 km of the road passing through the territory of Karakalpakstan. The area is almost deserted. For example, there are only four settlements along the entire length of the route.

The Chinese company has experience in Central Asian countries. In particular, it is building an alternative road from south to north in Kyrgyzstan. In Tajikistan, it is building a road in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. In both countries, construction is expensive in difficult mountainous conditions with many tunnels.
