Goods from Russia, Ukraine disappear from Kazakh stores

There is a shortage of Russian and Ukrainian goods in Kazakhstan. There are less and less personal hygiene products, household chemicals, women’s cosmetics, confectionery and much more on the shelves,  KTK channel reported.

Hardware store salespeople say that many Russian laundry detergents, hair dyes, lotions, soaps and some women’s cosmetics have been cut off since February. Kazakh goods come to the rescue, as well as imports from Belarus, Uzbekistan and Turkey.

According to businessmen, the assortment on the shelves has noticeably decreased, and prices have seriously increased.

“There are “Safironi”, for example – they are all very expensive now. There is no “Papia” at all, very little. There are no powders: “Bingo”, for example, it was Russian. They don’t exist now, to be honest. There is no “Clean Line”, “Black Pearl” is long gone, “777” – these were all Russian goods. They’ve been gone for a long time, six months ago. We have no “Forest balsam”. The hottest items! “Velvet pens” are out of stock,” said salesman Marat Kazybaev from Astana.

Large retail chains also suffer from interruptions in supply. In the hypermarkets there is a shortage of hygiene products, household chemicals, confectionery, alcohol and licensed toys periodically. This was influenced by anti-Russian sanctions, problems with transportation and raw materials, they said.
