Export from Kazakhstan to Italy for seven months of this year doubled compared to the same period last year, amounting to $8.7 billion, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan said in a statement.
The volume of imports for seven months increased by 9.7%. In general, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Italy for seven months of 2022 amounted to $9.2 billion.
Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Marat Karabaev met with a delegation from Italy at the X International Exhibition on Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking in Astana.
The sides discussed the possibilities and real ways to increase cooperation and form a solid partnership between the countries not only in the field of mechanical engineering, but also in the fields of metallurgy, chemistry, light industry and the construction industry.
“Particular attention is paid to the implementation of investment projects in industries, as one of the tools for the industrialization of Kazakhstan. It is expected that a pool of Kazakh-Italian industrial projects will be formed in the near future,” Karabaev said.
Kazakhstan imports taps, valves, pumps, fans and various equipment from Italy. The main positions of Kazakhstani exports to Italy are ferroalloys, unwrought aluminum, scrap of precious materials, steel products and lead.
Italy is in the third place in Europe in terms of the state of the economy with the leading branches of engineering, metallurgy, petrochemistry and light industry, second place in the production of shoes. Exports of engineering products should be several times larger than imports of similar products. Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov stated this at the forum of machine builders of Kazakhstan.
He said that the mechanical engineering is a priority industry and the Kazakh legislation provides for appropriate support measures. The prime minister noted that the government periodically considers problematic issues, including with the participation of the Union of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan.
