Participants of the meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS states discussed in Baku a set of issues of multilateral military cooperation of mutual interest, the CIS Executive Committee said.
The meeting was attended by delegations of the general staffs of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The heads of the CIS military delegations exchanged views on the military-political situation developing in the world, analyzed the directions of transformation of challenges and threats to the security of the Commonwealth countries and regional stability.
The Committee of Chiefs of Staff paid key attention to the consideration of the action plan for multilateral military cooperation for the next year.
In accordance with it, in 2023 it is planned to further deepen the interaction of defense departments in the main areas of cooperation, increase the intensity and expand the geography of joint activities of the armed forces, and ensure efforts in countering terrorism and other challenges and threats.
In conclusion, the final protocols were signed, and a decision was made to hold a regular meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS member states in the Russian Federation in 2023.
The meeting took place on October 12, on the eve of the CIS leaders’ summit in Astana, which took place on October 13.
