Almost 120 thsd Kyrgyzstanis evacuated from border villages

All residents of the border villages of Batken and Leilek regions were evacuated to Kadamjai region, first deputy governor of Batken Oblast Marufkhan Tulaev told reporters, Kabar agency reports.

He said that local residents were evacuated through a corridor in the Uzbek enclave of Sokh, with the permission of the authorities of the Fergana region of Uzbekistan.

He noted that about 120 thousand citizens have now been resettled in the Kadamzhai region.

On September 14, Tajikistan showed armed aggression by attacking Kyrgyz border outposts and villages. On September 16, the Tajik side, violating all previously reached agreements, again attacked border and civilian facilities along the entire perimeter of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border in the Batken region.

Tajikistan used heavy armored vehicles, multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and aircraft in an attempt to seize the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. The surroundings of Batken airport and objects on the outskirts of the city were also shelled.

Border conflict begun today early morning. Ceasfire was achieved between two sides after Presidents of two countriess negotiated in Samarkand to solve border dispute without fighting.
