400 militants deploys to north of Afghanistan – closer to Tajikistan

400 militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant terrorist organization were deployed to the north of Afghanistan,TASS reported citing Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, head of the CSTO Joint Staff.

Sidorov noted that the terrorists were sent to the northern Afghan provinces of Badghis, Jawzjan, Kunduz, Takhar and Badakhshan with the aim of committing terrorist attacks and attacking civilian and military facilities.

He said that in general, a high level of terrorist activity remained in Afghanistan, about 250 people became victims of terrorists in the republic in 2022, more than a thousand were injured. “At the same time, the main targets of the attacks were senior officials from the leadership of the Taliban (banned in Tajikistan),” the head of headquarters concluded.

It should be noted that among the main targets of the terrorists were also representatives of the ethno-religious minority – the Hazaras.

Meanwhile, a crisis situation has been developed on the section of the state border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The border troops of the two states fought intense battles against each other in different areas along the border in the Batken and Sogd regions.
