WB to finance projects in Kyrgyzstan worth $600 mln

The World Bank will finance projects in Kyrgyzstan for $600 million in the next 5 years, Country Manager of the WB for  Kyrgyzstan Naveed Hassan Naqvi told during a meeting with First Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Naryn Oblast Adyl Saparov, Kabar reported.

The sides considered the priority projects which will be supported by the WB in Naryn Oblast.

Adyl Saparov said that a number of promising projects are being implemented with international partners in the region, including the WB, and that Naryn Oblast is ready for a partnership program that is being prepared and will be implemented in 2024-2028.

Naveed Hassan Naqvi noted that under the upcoming 5-year program, the World Bank will finance projects across Kyrgyzstan for $USD 600 million to improve the condition of the population, and that these funds will be provided in the form of an interest-free loan for a period of 50 years.

Funding for the projects will start in July 2023. 25 projects worth $800 million are being implemented throughout Kyrgyzstan financed by the WB.
