Uzbekistan reduces number of state-owned enterprises

Uzbekistan plans  to reduce by 2025 the number of enterprises with state participation by 75%, Nova24.uz reports.

The relevant authorities have developed a Strategy for the Management and Reform of Enterprises with State Participation for 2021-2025, the department of the State Assets Management Agency of Uzbekistan announced. The document was based on advanced foreign experience and approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan. The main goals were:

– improvement of legislation related to corporate governance and reforms;
– a constant reduction in the number of enterprises with state participation;
– introduction of modern methods of corporate governance at enterprises, ensuring openness and transparency of their activities.

The document also revealed  how many new enterprises with Russian capital were opened in Uzbekistan. In addition, exporting enterprises will be able to receive up to five million dollars.
