Cybershield in Kazakhstan repells in one month about 20 mln attacks on Kaznet

The State Technical Service JSC (STS) is working to repel cyber attacks, Kazinform reported with reference to the press service of the STS.

Today, in order to minimize threats, the work is underway to analyze all network traffic in real time and check each packet. The cyber shield repels internal and external perimeter attacks by filtering out malicious traffic and malware. In just a month, about 20 million cyber attacks were repelled, the STS said in a statement.

The STS assumes that cyberattacks are connected with the beginning of the electoral period in Kazakhstan.

It is noted that for DDoS attacks, networks of infected computers and IoT devices, called botnets, were used, which can be distributed around the world.

Currently, Cybershield is working in enhanced mode.

A DDoS attack is a specially directed powerful traffic flow in the form of chaotic requests to a specific Internet resource or Internet segment. As a result of the attack, access to the Internet becomes difficult (delays in the operation of Internet services are possible) or it stops working altogether.

Early presidential elections in Kazakhstan are scheduled for November 20, 2022. The main contender for the post of President of Kazakhstan is Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
