At a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in Samarkand as part of the SCO Summit, Kazakh President Tokayev said that he had given relevant instructions to the Government to implement the agreements reached earlier in Tehran, Kazinform reported.
It was noted that the Kazakh side has prepared a list of goods that can be delivered to Iran in a short time. Kazakhstan is ready to consider and support a similar list of the Iranian side. This will help achieve the goal of increasing bilateral trade to $3 billion, the report said.
Regarding the transit and transport corridor, the foundation of which was laid by the leaders in June in Tehran, the importance of developing the potential of h. e. branches “Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran”, as well as the need to use the possibilities of regular ferry service between the ports of the countries in the Caspian Sea.
The President of Kazakhstan supported Iran’s desire to become a full member of the SCO and expressed confidence that the accession of the Islamic republic to the organization would strengthen regional cooperation and give a new impetus to its work.
The President of Iran reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation, noting the wide opportunities for trade and economic cooperation between our countries. Ibrahim Raisi expressed confidence that the agreements reached would become a solid foundation for further close cooperation.
Kazakhstan has been a full-fledged member of the SCO since 2002, and Iran signed the Agreement on the fulfillment of the obligations of a member of the SCO. At the next Summit of the Organization, Iran will participate as a full member.
